Does it ever happen to you when you feel so worthless that you can’t look yourself in the mirror?
Does it ever happen to you when you hate yourself with every inch of your body for not accomplishing what you were striving for?
Does it ever happen to you when you feel so inadequate for not sticking to your new year’s resolutions and blame yourself for the lack of willpower?
It happens with me all the time, more than I’m willing to accept.
It happens with me, because I’m a human, I get caught up between things.
It happens with me, because sometimes I give in to the lazy demons that reside inside me.
It happens with me, because at times I’m too hard on myself, because I set a dozen of goals, working on all of them at the same time.
It happens with me, because I strive for perfection. Even after all those efforts, nothing seems perfect. At last, something seems fine, something seems to be a good fit, but only for a while. I see the same thing after a few weeks, and I see all the flaws that were perfectly hidden before.
And, I guess I’m not alone in this.
I’ve seen people who remind me of a dead fish, just going with the flow, relying on others to shape their life, and still they are content with their lives. So why aren’t we?
We strive for more, we expect to get better and better, day after day. AND, THERE’S NOTHING WRONG IN THAT.
There’s a force that drives us, our ambitions and our dreams, which won’t stop pushing us until we reach where we wanted to be.
You will feel that you are going nowhere, there’s no direction to your actions, but at least you are doing something to reach your destination. You may feel lost, but you are moving forward, and you are learning your lessons on the way.
At times, you wouldn’t even realize that you are almost there, you have accomplished the goal that you once set. Because, by the time you reach there, your goals have evolved, now you see a bigger picture, and want more for yourself.
This New Year, I don’t want to talk about how to set your new year’s resolution for 2018 or tell you what to do to stick to it.
I just want to let you know that you are AWESOME!
In the middle of all this goal keeping and hustling, I just wanted to take some time and realize how far we have come. Let’s take out some time for self appreciation.
Here’s to all the mornings when you woke up and went for a morning jog.
Here’s to all the days you strictly followed your healthy diet.
Here’s to all the work days when you met your deadlines and made your boss proud.
Here’s to all the time that you spent laughing with your loved ones.
Here’s to all the goals that you are about to accomplish in 2018.
Let 2018 be the year of self love.
You carry so much love in your heart. give some. to yourself.
